Zelensky Admits Bakhmut Loss Would Pave Way to Bigger Ukraine Cities

As has been previously discussed here

“These heights are more important for the Russians than Bakhmut itself,” said a Ukrainian colleague. “If they can bring their artillery here, they can target bigger cities like Kramatorsk and Slovyansk. “

“The Russians know very well that Bakhmut would open the way to Sloviansk and Kramatorsk for them. Sloviansk is not a metropolis, but Kramatorsk is a big city. And that is exactly their big goal in eastern Ukraine. Every small town like Bakhmut that the Russians seize brings them closer to the big cities,” the head of state said in an interview with the German publication Welt.

“I don’t mean to say that Kramatorsk and its inhabitants are more important than Bakhmut, no. But every little town we lose means a step forward for the Russians who – as we now know – want to take the administrative borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. That is why we are putting up so much resistance in Bakhmut,” he said.

Notice Zelensky’s admission of Bakhmut’s importance?

Notice he acknowledges Ukraine/mercenary/nazi forces are “putting up so much resistance in Bakhmut”? Contrary to what he and other talking heads have been claiming so far?

At the same time, Zelenskyy emphasized that the Armed Forces of Ukraine were not ordered to hold the positions in Bakhmut to the death.

“As for Bakhmut, there is no order for the armed forces to hold the position to the death. There is no such order at all. This war is not about staying and dying, but we are on our land and we will protect it as long as we can,” he said.

Hi Penny:
I think this is also important for people in Donetsk City as the shelling attacks come from the Bakhmut region. Probably from the heights.
It would be nice to see the shelling of the civilian population come to an end, finally.

Hi Gary
You’re probably correct on the Ukrainians using the heights to shell the residents of Donetsk. It would make sense because it’s a very useful advantage to hold.
And a great disadvantage to lose.

It would be nice to see the shelling stop. All of it really. Ukrainian leadership, if we can call it that, has done very wrong by it’s people.

Yes the shelling of the Russian people in all of the Donbas which is why this all started. US caused it with overthrow in the Maidan thing Since 2014 almost 20 000 Russians killed by the Azov Nazi Ukrainian forces. ALL fact! Ret US Army

Hi Michael
And thanks for your comment.
Most North Americans (Canadians/Americans) don’t understand the situation you mention is the reality.
At my censored blog there is information on the 2014 coup. sigh..
