Azovstol: The Heart of Ukraine Resistance Is Broken

Ukraine is presenting this as a mission fulfilled. It’s war spin obviously. I can’t imagine the mission was ever to lose Azovstol and by extension Mariupol. The Ukranazi’s surrendered. That sounds more like mission failure though their lives are saved.

Ukraine orders Azovstal fighters to surrender

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed in its social networks, on Tuesday evening, that its servicemen holed up at the Azovstal steelworks in Mariupol have been ordered to surrender.

“The garrison “Mariupol” has completed the assigned combat mission. The highest military command issued an order to the commanders of the units located at Azovstal to save the lives of the personnel,”

Surrender defined:

  1. cease resistance to an enemy or opponent and submit to their authority.

Ukraine says Azovstal combat mission fulfilled, more than 260 soldiers evacuated

The Azov regiment – a far-right militia now part of Ukraine’s National Guard present in Mariupol – announced that: “In order to save lives, the entire Mariupol garrison is implementing the approved decision of the Supreme Military Command and hopes for the support of the Ukrainian people,” Ukrinform news agency cited the statement as saying.

More than 200 Ukrainian soldiers are being evacuated from Azovstal steel plant in the city of Mariupol.

53 troops are being taken to hospital in the Russian-controlled town of Novoazovsk, about 30 miles to the east, according to Ukraine’s deputy defence minister Hanna Malyar.

Another 211 people are being taken to Olenivka, about 55 miles north, through humanitarian corridors, she said, adding that they would be exchanged with Russian military prisoners before returning home.
