Perhaps this explains Lula’s return? Brazil being the “B” in the BRICS
Resetting and strengthening the Ukrainian-Brazilian strategic partnership is an important task to ensure democracy, peace and security in Ukraine, Brazil and around the world. This was emphasized by First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliia Svyrydenko during a live broadcast from Brazil on the National Telethon on January 2, 2023.
“The Ukrainian delegation has already held several meetings with President of the Federative Republic of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, where a formula of peace for the world from President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy was presented. The formula contains 10 main points, based on the non-violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, food and energy security. It is very important for us that the largest country in Latin America – Brazil – is interested in the practical implementation of one of the proposed points to achieve peace,” Yuliia Svyrydenko noted.
The First Deputy Prime Minister added that the common interest of both countries is to expand bilateral trade by removing trade barriers, promoting business development, and implementing projects under the Investment Menu.
Ukraine also expects Brazil to join the full-scale sanctions against russia.
Yuliia Svyrydenko noted that the Ukrainian delegation had a series of business meetings with President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of Angola João Lourenço, President of Portugal Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, King of Spain Felipe VI, Foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala Mario Adolfo Búcaro Flores. In particular, Ukraine intends to strengthen economic ties with the countries of the African continent.

Why would Brazil, once again with Lula as President, want to “reset” relations with Ukraine? Lula was all in for BRICS, even while he was in prison (2019). Is he being coerced by the USA (by hook or by crook) to toss relations with the BRICS nations aside (specifically Russia and China)? All that for “democracy, peace and security” (yeah sure) and trade with a bankrupt, weakened, war-ravaged country headed by a clown-puppet president? (He actually wanted the whole world to ban the letter Z, even though his own name begins with it — crazy!) I admit I haven’t been following Brazil much in the past few years so I don’t know what to think of Lula. Did he really manage to pull off election fraud to get elected as his opponents and the western press assert? I read that it was actually Bolsonaro who was buying votes. It’s all pretty confusing to me. I reckon you’ve got it all sussed out though, Penny.

Hi M.R.
I wish I did have it sussed out. But there are claims of election fraud? Perhaps this fraud was done on his behalf? I don’t know?
This language used by Ukraine is suggestive that their is something going on behind the scenes. If Brazil goes the rest of the ‘global south’ may follow?
It’s definitely a situation worth watching.
