FIRST ON FOX: A refusal by President Donald Trump to grant a key demand made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy precipitated their explosive confrontation during a live press event at the White House.
According to sources close to Zelenskyy, tempers had flared even before the event began. The Ukrainian president was apparently presented with a minerals for security agreement by the Trump administration prior to the press event, but the deal included no security guarantees to protect Ukraine from another Russian invasion.
Zelenskyy had warned repeatedly ahead of his trip to DC that in order to reach a mineral agreement, Kyiv needed these security assurances. Even so, he angered Trump and Vance by rejecting the deal, the source said.
A stunned world watched Friday as Vice President JD Vance and then Trump reprimanded Zelenskyy in full view of reporters, with cameras rolling. From the moment the Oval Office event started, the dynamic between Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart was noticeably different from the two other press events Trump held with world leaders this week.

I’ve covered many, many geopolitcal events for quite some time now, decades, actually. Having always been an admitted geopolitical junkie. In all that time, I can’t recall witnessing such infantile behaviour. After having watched many, many press conferences. Other US Presidents, Putin, Lavrov, Erdogan, Assad, EU leaders, Trudeau and still more. In all that time, in all those years, considering all those personalities this episode, was like no other. It was like watching school yard bullies gang up on the undersized child.
My sneaking suspicion is that I see the so called minerals deal in a very different way than most-

I might be missing the right appreciation of the situation.
My impression is Trump and Vance intentionally left the cameras rolling so the audience could witness the haranguing of Zelensky as well as Zelensky’s alleged ingratitude- in fact Trump said as much at one point in time- at about 6:30 seconds he starts saying how good he thinks this is the American people are seeing this- He wanted them to see that exchange to project power and look like a strong leader- so, yes, in many ways it was show business, but, for Zelensky it had to have been humilitating and he left without signing the deal- the deal the Americans wanted

He is not aligned with Europe, that’s bullshit. The US intentionally weakened Europe, particularly Germany (we’ve discussed this subject a few other times here)
As for being for peace? I don’t see it.
To be honest, I did not watch the exchange. But I can guess how things went and why it went. For some reason, humiliation did not really come up to mind.
It felt more to me as that we visibly saw Zelensky doing his best, but it was beyond its control so people cut him some slack.
With other words, I felt like a pageant to me.
However I might be missing the mark entirely since like I mentioned before. Due to me not appreciating the seriousness of the situation.
Both Trump and Zelensky are trying to occupy our hearts and minds every breathing moment. And my natural defense is going like.

Of course they are trying to occupy or hearts and minds. I wouldn’t disagree with that.
Still Zelensky did not sign an agreement that was widely expected to have been signed yesterday. And as of today he’s still refusing to sign.
Interesting too the spin from the media (today) is Trump wrong for his behaviour because he wants to ally himself with the “dictator” Putin.
