Below is a tweet from Jonathon Cook’s twitter account- Pretty sure most of the readers here know who Jonathon Cook is? If not, a brief bio.
In killing Nasrallah, Israel chose to open the gates of hell. We’ll all pay the price: Hezbollah has confirmed that its longtime leader, Hassan Nasrallah, was among the hundreds of Lebanese killed in Israel’s massive bombardment of a suburb of Beirut last night.
Israel’s decision to assassinate Nasrallah, using some of the enormous bunker-busting bombs the United States has been arming it with, is beyond foolhardy. It is outright deranged.
Israel has removed – and knows it has removed – a moderating influence on Hezbollah. Israel’s action will achieve nothing apart from teaching his successor, and leaders of other groups and countries labelled as terrorist by western governments, several lessons:
* That Israel, and the West standing squarely behind it, do not play by any known rules of engagement, and that their opponents must do likewise. The current restraint from Hezbollah that has been so baffling western pundits will become a thing of the past.
* That Israel is not interested in compromise, only escalation, and that this is a fight to death – not just against Israel but against the West that sponsors Israel.
* That Israel’s ideological extremism – its Jewish supremacism, and its endless craving for Lebensraum – must be met with even greater Shia-inspired extremism. Decades of western terrorism in the Middle East unleashed a Sunni nihilism embodied first in al-Qaeda and then in ISIS.
Now, the West, via Israel, is fomenting for the Shia resistance its own ISIS moment. The moderates in what the West dubs “terrorist organisations” have once again lost the argument. Why? Because the US imperial project known as “the West” has once again demonstrated it will not compromise. It demands full-spectrum, global dominance – nothing less.
Israel may make very short tactical gains in killing Nasrallah. But we will all soon feel the whirlwind. When that whirlwind comes, the job of our politicians and media will be to ensure we make no connection between this moment of savagery and insanity from us and the blowback.
The role of western establishments will be to cry victim, to insist “They hate us for our freedoms”, for our civilisational superiority, because “they” are simply barbarians.
But what comes next, as with what came before, will be entirely predictable. Violence doesn’t beget calm, it begets more violence. Israel knows that. Our leaders know that. But they opened the gates of hell anyway.
(Disclaimer: Nothing in this post, in line with Section 12 of the UK Terrorism Act, in any way indicates, or should be seen to be encouraging, support for any group designated as a terrorist organisation by the British government.)

I am gonna be honest here, No love lost on this side. For me Hezbollah, Hamas, Iran and Israel helped each other to become what they are and have been unhealthy for the entire region.
And yeah Israel/USA this that, sure. But its the actions of these others which helped Netanyahu and his ilk to power. From the minimal amount of storytelling I have gathered.
And with how things have been going I almost suspect that they have tried to make sure that Hezbollah maintained its current position so it can be “cleaned up”. And I don’t mean they directly supported them, but more in the sense they made sure the surrounding factors are good enough for Hezbollah to exist and nothing to threaten its existence from other factors.
With this they probably have a good idea how the organization of Hezbollah is and also to make sure that Hezbollah is the only force to give resistance. Now its just a matter to creeping up north to increase the lebensraum of Israel and create another wave of displaced people, which will burden Assad and than pincer them with SDF/USA.
The fact that Lebanon and Syria are just barely hanging on is by design.
Want to think on what you’ve written Kaz
I did not know what lebensraum meant, so, of course, I looked it up
– Lebensraum: the territory that a state or nation believes is needed for its natural development, especially associated with Nazi Germany.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lebensraum
so we’re talking greater Israel, clearly
The association between Israeli expansion and German expansionism during the Nazi time is very interesting.
Considering the transfer agreement, etc., etc.,
I can’t shake the all the occultism associated with Germany/Nazi
and Madam Blavatsky /Theosophy/ and the Aryan race ideology, alongside the idea of being chosen and it’s innate supremacy along the Jewish idea of choseness- Like there is some bizarre connective thread running from the past to the present- and I’m just brushing the surface, but, shakes head, real strangeness going on connecting groups that seem disparate, but, perhaps aren’t?
Ideologies, strange beliefs and the like.
People tend to imitate others when they see something working.
But as far as I have followed history. The idea of Racial superiority and purity is not something unique to the Jews, they just have been the most insistent.
But I think it can be said that the Jews for purely believing in the idea that they are the chosen people. That it will be inevitably spread to the people around them which are not Jewish and rekindle the idea of a People above other people.
The following is high speculative but worth throwing out there. Thus what i wrote in the previous paragraph might have been the reason for Nazi-ism and perhaps for wide-spread slavery and colonialism
Hey Kaz,
I get the imitation idea, but, that only works for so long- Germany had it’s day. It seems Israel will have it’s day as well. What can’t go on, won’t go on.
re: the idea of a symbiosis. I think that’s what your getting at when you say “For me Hezbollah, Hamas, Iran and Israel helped each other to become what they are and have been unhealthy for the entire region.”
Everything has a symbiosis until something changes that relationship/status quo. By symbiosis, I’m referencing to a mutual balance, for better or worse. But eventually that symbiosis falters- right now, we are witnessing the beginning of that change.
Where it’s going to go… I don’t know.
And influx of refugees will be difficult for Syria.
We are witnessing the remake of the region- we’ve watched it in slow motion, I think it is now speeding up.
I doubt Russia and China will stand on the sidelines if my thinking is correct- And Turkey will have to become more pro active same as Iran.
Yeah Imitation is a flawed way to go forward, but with the Jews that idea is ingrained with them for centuries. They suffered big losses, were banished from places and still hold on to that idea. If that idea is to be defeated it would have to go trough a more thorough process like how Nazi Germany was cleaned up after the war. This would require to go after the Evangelicals since they need the Jews to have the belief of the chosen people to thrive.
Starting with Russia. There is a scenario which goes trough my mind with regards to Russia, If Russia was offered a deal where they get the regions they want in Ukraine and a governance they way Russia likes it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they left Syria. For Russia nothing is more important than Ruscism.
Would that be detrimental to Europe absolutely, would the Americans care. Nope.
The Chinese, if they get involved they are probably there to makes things worse just to tie down US resources to Israel and hope there is a sufficient opening to Assimilate Taiwan.
When it comes to Turkey, since its tied down with Syria and the waning support for Erdogan(He couldn’t or didn’t control his party well enough and is losing support) and depending on how things will progress after Lebanon, It will either Annex parts of Syria or work together with Assad without Iran to fix Syria.
Because here is the thing about Iran, Even now its working with the PKK against Turkey. And since Lebanon is basically an Iranian asset It wouldn’t fly with the Turks to be proactive in that sense.
Hey Kaz
I don’t think Russia will leave Syria- they have the port at Tartus, and have for some time. They won’t forgo it. The location is way too strategic.
