Biden told Bibi U.S. won’t support an Israeli counterattack on Iran

Some thoughts..

  • Israel instigated this response with the attack on the consulate in Syria
  • Israel did have assistance from allies in intercepting drones etc- US and UK did some of the heavy lifting
  • For once I agree with Biden, Israel should take the “win” and leave it alone
  • But can Israel do that?

Israel won’t have US support for an Israeli counterattack on Iran

President Biden told Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a call on Saturday that the U.S. won’t support any Israeli counterattack against Iran, a senior White House official told Axios.

Why it matters: Biden and his senior advisers are highly concerned an Israeli response to Iran’s attack on Israel would lead to a regional war with catastrophic consequences, U.S. officials said.

Iran launched attack drones and missiles against Israel on Saturday night local time in retaliation for an airstrike in Syria that killed a top Iranian general.
"More than 200 drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles were fired from Iran," IDF spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said. Most of the threats were intercepted outside of Israeli airspace, he said.
A U.S. defense official earlier said U.S. forces in the region shot down Iranian-launched drones targeting Israel.

Behind the scenes: Biden told Netanyahu the joint defensive efforts by Israel, the U.S. and other countries in the region led to the failure of the Iranian attack, according to the White House official.

"You got a win. Take the win," Biden told Netanyahu, according to the official.
The official said that when Biden told Netanyahu that the U.S. will not participate in any offensive operations against Iran and will not support such operations, Netanyahu said he understood.
U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin spoke on Saturday with his Israeli counterpart Yoav Gallant and asked that Israel notify the U.S. ahead of any response against Iran, a senior Israeli official said.

What they’re saying:

Biden said in a statement after the call that the U.S. military moved aircraft and ballistic missile defense destroyers to the region over the course of the past week, which helped Israel take down nearly all of the incoming drones and missiles from Iran, Yemen, Syria and Iraq.

"I told Prime Minister Netanyahu that Israel demonstrated a remarkable capacity to defend against and defeat even unprecedented attacks — sending a clear message to its foes that they cannot effectively threaten the security of Israel," Biden said.

What to watch: Biden said he is going to hold a call on Sunday with the G7 leaders to coordinate a united diplomatic response to Iran’s attack.

"My team will engage with their counterparts across the region. And we will stay in close touch with Israel's leaders. And while we have not seen attacks on our forces or facilities today, we will remain vigilant to all threats and will not hesitate to take all necessary action to protect our people," Biden said

I’m noticing the cacophony of condemnation from the G-7 already

And Israel has demanded the Security Council meet to condemn the retaliatory attack- all though Israel disregards every resolution etc., that comes out of the UN- So why demand a meeting at all?

Iran has made clear this matter is concluded- any further escalation is on Israel

It also claimed the attack was a legitimate act of self-defense under the UN charter, saying “Iran’s military action was in response to the Zionist regime’s aggression against our diplomatic premises in Damascus.” The diplomatic mission was referring to an alleged Israeli strike in the Syrian capital that killed seven IRGC members, including two generals.

“The matter can be deemed concluded.”

It’s an interesting read-
He’s claiming that a new more virulent strain of Covid is in the making
-With each new wave of vaccine breakthrough infections, viral transmission slows down as a result of immune refocusing
– The delayed emergence of a Coronavirus lineage capable of causing ‘vaccine breakthrough trans infections’ facilitates prolonged viral spread, thereby fostering the training of innate immunity in the unvaccinated portion of highly Covid-19 (C-19) vaccinated populations.
-As successive immune refocusing events occur—transitioning from neutralizing antibodies (Abs) to infection-inhibiting Abs, and then to cellular productivity-inhibiting cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) responses—viral transmission is delayed, providing additional time for the unvaccinated segment of the population to train their cell-mediated innate immunity (via epigenetic reprogramming of Natural Killer cells, which effectively target and eliminate pathologically altered host cells at an early stage of infection)
The unvaccinated are going to be able to fend this onslaught off better than the vaccinated?

-There is little doubt, therefore, that the rising temperatures in the coming months will spur the emergence of a new CoV lineage capable of causing enhanced severe disease in highly C-19 vaccinated populations. Hence, contrary to expectations of a fall or winter occurrence, this phenomenon is likely to unfold pretty soon as temperatures begin to significantly rise!

I shudder at the thought because family members I dearly love opted to vaccinate themselves- How I wish they hadn’t 🙁

Back to topic- the insane Israeli leadership is claiming they’ve drawn up plans to attack Iran
I’m waiting for the Israeli’s to toss their leadership to the curb, same as Ukraine.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called for “calm heads to prevail” as US President Joe Biden warned Israel not to launch a counterattack against Tehran’s attempted drone and missile strikes, which marked a major ramping up of the proxy war between the two Middle Eastern powers.

However, the calls for breathing space came as the Israel Defence Forces announced it had drawn up plans to attack Iran in response for its drone strike, adding it had “authorised operational plans for both offensive and defensive action”, although no further details were given.

“Mr Guterres also said at the meeting, which was held at Israel’s request, that **Iran had written to the president of the security council and said the attack was defensive after an Israeli airstrike destroyed its consulate in Damascus, Syria on April 1.

He also pointed out that ***“the charter of the United Nations prohibits the use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state”, adding attacks on diplomatic premises are not allowed***”

It was Israel that initiated by striking Iran’s diplomatic premises but still Israel persists

“Mr Guterres’ remarks come after Israel’s a military spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari earlier suggested that the country has drawn up plans to attack Iran in response to an overnight drone assault on Saturday night after the country’s war cabinet held a meeting.

Mr Hagari said the cabinet had authorised operational plans for both offensive and defensive action in response to Iran’s drone and missile attack on Saturday night.”

What the sentiment is in Israel is in my blind spot. So the following is just going to be hearsay. I got the following from the Middle East eye YouTube channel, where its being said. That Israeli society have no qualms with the operations against Palestinians. They just don’t like the current leadership.

Hey Kaz
Ive seen similar information regarding the Israeli population..

I guess in both cases the populace would have to reach some sort of mass consensus?
One would think Ukrainians would be there given the state of their military and the enormous loss of their population?

mass consensus…… yeah, the question is at what cost. Because humans can be quite irrational. Historic events tells us that much.

can’t help but notice the US and UK are delivering the same sort of message to Israel and a wider perception management message to the global audience

To Israel
” Lord Cameron urged Israel to “take the win” and not risk a further escalation of violence in the Middle East.”
Take the win- same as Biden

“What we have to do with allies is win the argument in the broader global environment about who is really the aggressor here, but also make sure that they try and de-escalate the situation so that there isn’t further loss of life and suffering.”

The allies have to convince the western populace who the aggressor really is- We do know that it was Israel- but the powers that shouldn’t be are going to attempt to convince us it was Iran

It’s Israel that will need to be convinced to de-escalate-
Is David Cameron going to be PM again? He’s really been everywhere (media wise) lately
