Words are powerful- They create your world. Broken record alert…. Can’t even recall how many times we’ve talked your/our perception management through the words chosen. I’ll briefly rehash again. Always being considerate of the possibility there is a newbie on board, “perception management” will be better defined nearer the end of this report.
Quickly- Perception management is the practice of ensuring the message you wish to send is understood by the specific individuals or groups you want to reach/target.
If you’ve been following the situation with the convoy in Ottawa you’ll notice the messaging has changed. Quite dramatically!
The words occupiers, occupation and siege are being thrown around quite a bit. It’s bizarre, to say the least, to label Canadians in Canada as occupiers. Or their protest as an occupation. Canadians in Canada can hardly be construed as occupiers. Particularly understanding that these Canadians are in the capital of Canada.
The word siege does NOT apply to the convoy being present in Ottawa. The convoy has not laid siege to Ottawa. Ottawa is not under siege.
The truck convoy is and has been slowly placed under siege.
Hoping everyone understand what a siege is? Briefly, to lay siege is to cut off an area and it’s people from everything and everyone. Resources such as food and water are made inaccessible. Vital resources and supports including people and fuel are also made inaccessible. If police (soldiers etc) lay siege they may surround a location/deny accessibility/ impede free movement in order to force the people to come out or give up control of their place. To force compliance to authority.
- When Ottawa closed bridges to keep out other trucks in the convoy they began to lay the ground work for a siege on the freedom convoy.
- When Ottawa and company had the financial resources taken away from the convoy- Ottawa and company bolstered the siege.
- Ottawa police have been isolating the convoy, bit by bit. They are besieging the freedom protestors
- Now Ottawa is planning to deny the convoy access to diesel fuel- that is siege!
Who is laying siege to whom? It’s been staring us all right in the face people!!!
Ottawa’s police force with the help of the RCMP are placing the convoy under siege while the spin doctor’s at Navigator manage the minds of the masses.
A few folks were passing around a news release on tougher police measures coming in the days ahead, including one man who was not with the police services, but with the chief’s office, CBC was told.
That man was Matthew Barnes, a senior consultant for Navigator — an elite and expensive crisis management firm. (He was planting disinfo)
Police chief Peter Sloly’s office confirmed by email that Navigator was hired last weekend to “assist the Ottawa Police Service and Ottawa Police Services Board with communication/community engagement support on the first weekend of the demonstrations.”
According to police, the contract is within the service’s sole-source guidelines for special events.
High-stakes communications strategist’
With the tagline, “When you can’t afford to lose,” Navigator describes itself as “Canada’s leading high-stakes strategic advisory and communications firm.”
Watt is “widely regarded as Canada’s leading high stakes communications strategist, he is a trusted advisor to boards of directors, business and professional leaders as well as political leaders at all three levels of government across Canada.”
Navigator opened an office in Ottawa last March, according to a news release at the time, led by Graham Fox and Barnes.
Before joining Navigator, Barnes was a senior communications manager to Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland and worked for her predecessor Bill Morneau.
Ottawa has recently declared a “state of emergency”- More mind management.
Canada and Canadians are and have been under siege for years- Break free
Perception management is a term originated by the US military. The US Department of Defense (DOD) gives this definition, I’ve tweaked it to better reflect reality
Actions to convey and/or deny selected information and indicators to audiences/targets in order to influence their emotions, motives, and objective reasoning as well as to intelligence systems and leaders at all to influence official estimates, ultimately resulting in foreign behaviors and official actions favorable to the originator’s objectives. In various ways, perception management combines truth projection, operations security, cover and deception, and psychological operations.
“Perception” is defined as the “process by which individuals select, organize, and interpret the input from their senses to give meaning and order to the world around them”. Components of perception include the perceiver, target of perception, and the situation. Factors that influence the perceiver.
