Pokrovsk Under Siege: The Latest

Ukrainian Commandos carried out helicopter raid near Pokrovsk

On the last day of October, the Ukrainian military conducted an air assault with special operations forces on the rear of the Russian forces besieging Pokrovsk.

According to the Ukrainian 7th Rapid Reaction Corps of the Air Assault Forces, the Ukrainian air assault was successful, easing up Russian pressure on Pokrovsk. Ukrainian special operators from the Ukrainian military and the Ukrainian Main Military Intelligence Directorate (GUR) infiltrated behind Russian lines with multiple helicopters.

Video footage shows Ukrainian commandos disembarking from UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters in a field.

The Russian military claimed to have repelled the Ukrainian air assault. The geolocated video footage, however, shows that the Ukrainians were able to deploy dozens of special operators in multiple helicopters behind Russian lines.

Dozens of special operators in multiple helicopters?

The fact that the Ukrainian military was able to pull off such an air assault using precious UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters and—even more precious—special operators showcases both the daring and capabilities of the Ukrainians but also Kyiv’s precarious hold of Pokrovsk.

Author writes about the daring capabilities in pulling off this operation. October 31/st. I’d like to know if any of the alleged dozens of special ops survived to this day, November 4th? I personally doubt it.

New Voice of Ukraine

“Unfortunately, things are grim in the Pokrovsk sector,” said the Ukrainian defenders from the Peaky Blinders, the 2nd Separate Detachment of the Omega Special Purpose Center, commenting on the footage.

“Occupiers are pressing with overwhelming manpower, and the intensity of their movements is so high that drone operators simply cannot keep up, scrambling one aircraft after another.”

Ukraine media is reporting 10 special forces fighters landed in Pokrovsk- not dozens as claimed in the opening piece

Reuters reported that about 10 special forces fighters landed in Pokrovsk from a Black Hawk helicopter earlier in the week. The operation was personally led by Ukraine’s spymaster Kyrylo Budanov.

On Nov. 3, a Dovbush’s Hornets platoon commander from the 68th Separate Brigade reported that the enemy is now present in nearly all quarters and districts of Pokrovsk.

Fall of Pokrovsk Imminent? Russian Forces Tighten Their Grip on the Ukrainian Stronghold

Russian forces have made new advances both in Kharkiv and Donetsk oblasts, including inside the embattled city of Pokrovsk, according to DeepState, a Ukrainian military analysis group. The analysts reported Russian progress near Borivska Andriivka in Kharkiv Oblast, as well as around Karpivka and Kozatske in Donetsk Oblast, and within Pokrovsk itself.

Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence confirmed that special operations were continuing in Pokrovsk, with elite units working to prevent Russian troops from gaining fire control over vital logistics routes. Earlier, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi denied claims that Pokrovsk or Myrnohrad were encircled, stressing that Ukrainian forces, including those from the Special Operations Forces, the Security Service of Ukraine, and Defence Intelligence, were carrying out coordinated missions to push Russian units out.

Over recent days, Russian troops have intensified their push toward Pokrovsk, using small sabotage and reconnaissance teams to infiltrate Ukrainian lines. Poor weather and low visibility have limited drone activity, creating more favorable conditions for Russian movements. Ukrainian troops are struggling with personnel shortages and logistical difficulties that have persisted for months. Despite the mounting pressure, Russian forces have not fully consolidated control inside Pokrovsk, where Ukrainian units, including special forces, continue to operate. In nearby Myrnohrad, about 5 km to the east, Russian troops have reached the city’s outskirts and are attempting to move further inside from the eastern direction.

an interesting albeit twisted read.
