Russian distrust of US regarding Black Sea Agreement

Which should surprise no one at all

The US has agreed to help Russia restore access to global commercial shipping lanes after negotiations with Saudi Arabia.

“The United States will help restore Russia’s access to the world market for agricultural and fertilizer exports, lower maritime insurance costs, and enhance access to ports and payment systems for such transactions,” the White House said.

This follows agreements between Russia and Ukraine to implement ceasefires covering the Black Sea and energy infrastructure. However, Moscow stated that the deal would only take effect after sanctions on the Russian Agricultural Bank and other financial institutions are lifted and they are reconnected to the SWIFT payment system.
