Turkey-Backed Syria Forces Aim to Push on Against US Backed Kurdish Forces

I changed the title to reflect that both of these groups are forces. Rather than saying one is a force the other a group. They are both military forces.

Part of the reason for reposting the article on the feral cities, was so readers who may not know, understand Raqqa was a large city, a large Arab majority city and it was obliterated by the US and their Kurdish allies. Some of the people that fled play a role in the Turkish backed forces. As the Arab population was displaced through US bombing and Kurdish shock troops they found common cause with Turkey in the goal to take their lands/homes back. Understanding the past sheds light on the present.

Bloomberg) — Turkey-backed forces are aiming to (re)capture more territory in northern Syria from Kurdish groups, according to Turkish officials familiar with the matter, a move that could stir tensions with the US.

Turkey and the Syrian National Army, which is funded and advised by Ankara, are taking advantage of the collapse of the Assad regime, the people said. The SNA will likely try to capture areas to the west of Ayn al-Arab, also known as Kobani by its mostly Kurdish inhabitants, said the people, who aren’t authorized to speak publicly.

The city was known as Ayn Al Arab, before it was ethnically cleansed by the US and it’s Kurdish proxies, the historical name was replaced to create a perception of this area being a Kurdish area. It wasn’t.

The SNA has seized two northwestern towns since late November from the Syrian Democratic Forces, a Kurdish group that has been a key ally in the US’s fight against Islamic State.

Erdogan wants to create a buffer zone along the Turkey-Syria border and prevent infiltrations by Kurdish militants regarded as a threat by Ankara.

A buffer zone and a zone of influence. Turkey’s plan was to return Syria’s refugees to where they came from.

While Joe Biden’s administration has so far said little on the issue, some senators have threatened sanctions against Turkey unless it stops the SNA’s campaign.

The US is ready to introduce sanctions against Turkey. This is not surprising. The fact that both nations are in NATO is meaningless to the US. The US goal is to remake the region and Turkey is in the way.

“If Turkey doesn’t immediately accept these terms, we intend to introduce bipartisan sanctions legislation this week,” Senators Chris Van Hollen, a Democrat, and Lindsey Graham, a Republican, said on Tuesday.

Turkey’s ultimate goal is for the SNA to capture the entire Syria-Turkey border area that runs for more than 900 kilometers (560 miles) to Iraq, though that will prove tough, the people said. The SNA is already being slowed by land mines planted by the Kurdish forces on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, the people said.

Notice that the bloomberg map shows only one US base in Syria- That’s not at all accurate. There are many, many more.
Lies of omission are still lies. And the attempt to mislead will succeed if left unchallenged.
