Middle East Update- Israel, Iran, Lebanon, US etc.,

Looks to be some behind the scene goings on. On the diplomatic front and on the military front as well. I’d be lying to you all if I claimed to be unconcerned. The situation in and around Israel is, in my opinion, more frightening than the situation between Russia/Ukraine. Perhaps I’m mistaken to be fearful? I don’t think so. There are just too many cooks in this kitchen..

Dangerous tipping point.

The conflict’s dangerous dynamic is at a tipping point. The cast list of international actors already involved in military exchanges on multiple fronts is extensive. In Gaza, Hamas and its allies are in direct conflict with Israel, which is armed by the US and western allies. In the West Bank settlers are attacking Palestinian communities. On Lebanon’s border Hizbullah attacks are supported and supplied by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. In Iraq and Syria, Iranian proxy militias have been targeted by US airstrikes, while in Yemen Houthi militias are launching waves of rocket attacks on Israel and threatening shipping.

A round up of news reports gathered up today

U.S. President Joe Biden told Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to a cease-fire with Hamas as the White House’s frustrations over the continuation of the war in Gaza grow.

Empty rhetoric in my opinion

Serious preparation in Israel for Iranian retaliation: Attack on several fronts within days

Amid ongoing threats from Hezbollah and Iran, Israel is on high alert, preparing for a broad attack by Tehran and its proxies in retaliation for the assassinations of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh and senior Hezbollah official Fuad Shukr. The assumption is that a significant response could come from multiple fronts in the coming days, potentially coordinated by Iran with all its proxies: Hezbollah, the Houthis, and militias in Syria and Iraq.

Israel is preparing for the worst-case scenarios, even if there is no 100% certainty they will materialize. Moreover, Israel is not only preparing defensively but also offensively, and will respond harshly to any significant attack. There is no certainty about the timing of the attack, but it is expected to occur after Haniyeh’s funeral in Qatar on Friday and could happen on Saturday or next week.

With an expectation that hostilities in the Middle East are imminent, Israel is holding discussions with representatives from the U.S.-led international coalition that helped to largely thwart the Iranian attack in mid-April. According to Israeli news outlet Ynet, it is not clear whether moderate Arab countries will help Israel this time. On Friday morning, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant met with British Defense Minister John Healy, and according to Gallant, he “emphasized the importance of creating a coalition to defend Israel against Iran and its proxies.” Gallant added that “this is a necessary action for the stability of the Middle East and the entire world.” Meanwhile, the Saudi channel Al-Hadath is reporting that Hezbollah is evacuating command posts in its stronghold of Dahieh south of Beirut, and pro-Iran militias in Syria are on a high state of alert. The Israeli government, along with local governments in northern Israel, is preparing to set in motion emergency plans to protect the elderly, the bedridden, and ventilated hospital patients in case Israel’s electrical grid is knocked out.

The U.S. military is repositioning assets and moving additional defensive capabilities into the Middle East to defend against a potential attack on Israel by Iran, U.S. officials said.

The President discussed efforts to support Israel’s defense against threats, including against ballistic missiles and drones, to include new defensive U.S. military deployments,” said a brief statement summarizing the two leaders’ call.

U.S. officials at both the Pentagon and White House declined to elaborate on what those defensive deployments entail, but the U.S. military has a broad array of aircraft, ballistic missile defenses and warships in the region.

On Friday, a U.S. official familiar with the situation, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss military movements, said that the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt and at least five other warships had relocated in the past two days from the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman, leaving them off Iran’s shores but moving in the direction of Israel if they sail west around Yemen toward the Red Sea.

This is just the metaphysical side of my talking, but that region is so loaded up with curses. That it will manifest something ugly. The only thing people don’t consider is that they are convinced whatever will manifest, will be contained to that region. And those are truly ignorant if you consider what happened from iraq war onwards.

Hi again Kaz!
If something manifests it’s going to be ugly and it will not be contained to the region.
Have you seen the stock markets globally falling, that’s not only because the US economy is tanking.
That’s the situation with Middle East as well
