Israeli military intelligence head to resign over Oct. 7 Hamas attacks
The resignation hasn’t happened yet, no successor has been appointed. Is this a PR move?
Israel’s military intelligence chief offered to resign on Monday and is expected to formally step down eventually for his leadership role during the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks that killed some 1,200 people, which has been criticized as a major Israeli intelligence failure. Maj. Gen. Aharon Haliva, the head of Israel’s Military Intelligence Directorate, requested to resign in coordination with the Israeli Chief of the General Staff Herzi Halevi. The decision was also approved by Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant, according to a Telegram post from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Haliva will formally resign once a successor is appointed, the IDF said.
Israel still hasn’t provided evidence to prove their claim regarding UNRWA
Israel is yet to provide supporting evidence for its claim that a significant number of UNRWA staff were members of terrorist organisations, according to a review of the United Nation agency for Palestinian refugees.
The report said Israel had made public claims based on an UNRWA staff list provided to it in March that “a significant number” of UNRWA staff were “members of terrorist organisations”.
“However, Israel has yet to provide supporting evidence of this,” it said.
