Russia Hitting Ukraine- Including Kiev

Archive.ph

My understanding via twitter is that Kiev or nearby may have been hit

With 300,000 Ukrainain soldiers dead at this time, one wonders why Zelensky didn’t negotiate when he had every opportunity to do so.

Though I understand the US would not allow for this humane and diplomatic resolution to take place-

Russia unleashed another widespread missile and drone attack overnight on cities across Ukraine, including targeting the capital, Kyiv, for the 10th time this month, Ukrainian officials said on Friday.

At least three cruise missiles and six attack drones managed to evade air defenses, according to Ukraine’s Air Force. There was no immediate information on casualties or what was hit.

In anticipation of that campaign, Russia has fired volley after volley of long-range missiles, apparently in an effort to tie up Ukraine’s air defenses away from the front lines.

The long anticipated, much talked about counter offensive that is yet to materialize

Kyiv, after months of relative calm, has been targeted in what one Ukrainian official called an “unprecedented” string of attacks in recent weeks, testing the limits of the capital’s air defenses. U.S. officials said earlier this week that a Patriot missile system defending the city from ballistic missiles had been damaged in a Russian barrage of hypersonic Kinzhal missiles,

My understanding is the Patriot missile systems are a fail and in all actuality the system is defeated.

Securing additional air defense systems is among the “priorities for this week, next week and for the near future,” President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine said in his overnight address

Why did Erdogan buy the Russian 400 system instead of the Patriot system. After all, Turkiye is a member of NATO.

Yes. Erdogan stated that he was purchasing the better system. Erdogan would not yield to US pressure not to buy them even though Turkiye was cut out of the F-35 program as a result.

Hi Gary
I thought it was something like that but couldn’t recall exactly.
However it seemed/seems pretty obvious.
And yes Turkiye was cut out of the F-35 program, but, I’m not sure that’s much of a loss given the many problems with the F-35 (going on recall but it seems to me it’s a problematic piece of military hardware)
