Kalin said that Ankara has no intention to take any measure; instead, it intends to keep the channel of trust open, saying that the purpose is to avoid any consequence over its own economy resulting from punitive measures.
The spokesperson indicated that the Turkish government is on the path of mediating between the two sides in the conflict for a peaceful resolution, or at least a ceasefire. It’s all about the Bosphorus Strait, Penny. Always has been. The West wants Turkey to do the heavy lifting and refuse Russian ships passage through the Strait.
Not sure how the Turkish leadership currently looks at it, but the choice is quite simple for nato.
Its either Turkey or its the PKK with its offshoots. their choice. They can’t have both. And both choice has disastrous consequences.
Kaz:
For NATO they want a subordinate Turkey (which they haven’t had for quite a few years now S400’s, non cooperation on ship passage, trade with russia, trade with Iran)
Or they (NATO) can work with the PKK which will be disastrous for the region and it’s people, but hunky dory for NATO.
The thing is, they can forget about subordinate Turkey. The clock is ticking for eu and nato, not for turkey.
Its under those conditions they have to choose. Its the end of eu as they know it either way.
Europe is loaded with destructive actors. The moment EU works with turkey, with its conditions respected. Eu will fall into chaos, by its destructive actors. If it doesn’t it will bleed itself dry.
Turkey is appereantly the only one who contiuned with its cold-war policy. Keep everybody at arms length.
