As Russian Forces Advance Trump Tempers Expectations for Alaska

WashingtonPost

President Donald Trump described his summit Friday with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss the war in Ukraine as a “feel-out meeting.”

Russian forces have made significant territorial gains at key positions on the battlefield in eastern Ukraine, military analysts and Ukrainian officials reported Tuesday — advances that could give Russian President Vladimir Putin added incentive to forgo a truce in favor of continued fighting.

Russian units in the past days have consolidated gains close to the cities of Kramatorsk and Dobropillya in the Donetsk region, analysts and officials said. Both cities have served as major hubs for the Ukrainian military, and Kramatorsk in particular remains home to thousands of civilians.

Russia’s strengthened positions across the eastern front came as President Donald Trump appeared to lower expectations Monday for his upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, describing the much-anticipated summit as a “feel-out meeting” to “see what he has in mind” regarding a potential deal to halt the war.

“Probably in the first two minutes, I’ll know exactly whether or not a deal can be made,” Trump told reporters on Monday. He said he planned to tell Putin, “you gotta end this war” and to see if there’s “a fair deal” on the table. He also again referred to potential territorial concessions without details.

He’s going to tell Putin “you gotta end this war”? What the hell? Never mind the massive role the US has played in instigating and perpetuating this war all along?? Does he believe his own spin? Does anyone believe it?

He added, “I may leave and say ‘good luck,’ and that’ll be the end.”

Hi Penny and any readers,

I too am worried about some precipitous action by some player under the cover of; or to derail the Alaska meeting.
Zelensky with the Europeans would love to forestall any Trump/Putin rapprochement with a mass casualty event in Russia. Or a false flag event in the ‘west’.
Or with the distraction Israel could attack Iran foolishly or initiate some horrific barbaric blitzkrieg on Gaza City.
Everyone hold their breath.

Hey Mark

We got options to consider and lots of them
Was listening to Brian Berletic and Glenn Diesen, Mr Berletic is concerned about an attempt to destabilize Russia while Putin is out of country, killing high ranking officials etc.,

Then domestically Trump is militarizing police forces? DC for starters, but, he’s saying he’ll do other ones, in case of civil unrest?? What is that about??
Cause… and I could be wrong, of course, but the words martial law are on the tip of my tongue
