This is literally the talk of the town and region. While not an Eclipse chaser, hubby and I are gung ho for this celestial event. We’re not alone! As this region is anticipating lots of visitors. Fortunately, were in the path of totality so their will be no chasing for us.
Niagara Falls, Ontario has been called on of the most scenic locales to view this event- Hotel rates are off the chart!!

We’ll likely set up right in our backyard!
“Mother Nature gives human beings several different shows,” he said. “I mean, you could say forest fires, hurricanes — I know people who chase hurricanes, they chase tornadoes, too — but the solar eclipse is one of those spectacles that’s harmless, in the sense that it doesn’t leave destruction behind it; it leaves a whole bunch of shouting and cheering and happy people for the most part.”
It’s that human experience that he loves so much.
“I also say I’m a little bit of an eclipse vampire, because I like to position myself beside somebody who’s never seen it before, and sort of feel the emotion coming off of them a little bit, too,” he said.
“I love the moments after the eclipse when everybody is just, I mean, just euphoric, really. And it’s a feeling we don’t often get collectively as human beings.”
A bit of Canada/Eclipse trivia
Carly Simon’s song includes a reference to the total eclipse that took place in Nova Scotia, Canada- 1972

You’re lucky. We were here also on the totality path of the 1999 eclipse here in Europe. We had an eclipse party and stuff. Unfortunately we got an extreme rainy day which made that the sun was hidden behind the clouds. The contrast between total darkness and the luminosity of the rainy day was not as spectacular as expected.
Quite the disappointment. Knoing that the next eclipse is sometime around 2080 does not give much solace (buhuhhu, 😉
I’m excited and so hoping it won’t be cloudy..
That’s the general attitude around these parts (south niagara) Hoping for a spectacular show and not wanting it to be cloudy or rainy- because hubby and I won’t have this opportunity again. We got some sort of filter for the camera, hopeful to get some cool pics
I’m encouraging my (going on 89yr old) Dad to view and am trying to get him some glasses to do so safely.
