At least 21 employees (you know it’s more!) of the World Health Organization were alleged perpetrators of rape, sexual abuse or sexual exploitation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo during an Ebola outbreak from 2018 to 2020, an official investigation has found.

The employees, including many who promised jobs to vulnerable women and girls in exchange for sex, ranged from security guards and drivers to senior doctors, consultants and epidemiologists, both Congolese and foreign, according to the final report of a year-long independent review established by the WHO.

In total, 84 incidents of sexual abuse and exploitation in the Ebola zone were reported, with victims as young as 13. Nine rape allegations were among the recorded incidents.

Some of the WHO employees even administered abortion pills to their victims when they became pregnant, the report found.

Dr. Tedros said he had made 14 visits to the Ebola zone during the outbreak and was never informed of the sexual abuse allegations. “Probably I should have asked questions,” he said.

But he did not respond directly when a reporter asked him whether he intended to resign. This month several European and African countries said they had nominated him for a second five-year term in the agency’s top job, to begin next May.

One of the sexual abuse allegations was known within the WHO system as early as May 2, 2019, according to emails uncovered by the investigation. Yet senior WHO staff did not launch an investigation or even seek further information at the time, because they decided that the complainant was not a “beneficiary of WHO services..

During the Ebola outbreak, the WHO was “completely unprepared” to deal with the risks of sexual exploitation and abuse, the report said.

That is absolutely not credible.

Among the many cases described in the report was the case of an expatriate WHO epidemiologist who exploited a young nurse’s desperation for a better-paid job. He told her that she “had to become his girlfriend” to get the job, the report said. When she rejected his advance, she did not get the job.

Another expatriate WHO epidemiologist repeatedly told a female WHO employee that he would make her lose her job if she refused to have sex with him. When she finally gave in to the threats, she became pregnant and he gave her abortion pills, the report said.

The abuses were first reported in September, 2020, by journalists from The New Humanitarian and the Thomson Reuters Foundation. Their investigation, citing reports by 51 women, said the sexual abuse and exploitation was perpetrated by men from WHO and other aid agencies, including UNICEF, Oxfam, World Vision and Médecins Sans Frontières.

The WHO requested an investigation by an independent commission, headed by Aichatou Mindaoudou, a former cabinet minister in Niger, and Julienne Lusenge, a human rights activist in DRC. The co-chairs appointed three other members, including Carol Doucet, a Canadian expert on women’s rights and sexual abuse.

Paula Donovan, co-director of independent group AIDS-Free World and its Code Blue campaign, which seeks an end to impunity for sexual offences by United Nations personnel, said the WHO should not have been allowed to choose experts to investigate itself for criminal wrongdoing.

“The WHO is still deciding whether, when or in which cases to alert police and courts,” Ms. Donovan said in a statement on Tuesday.

“This is not justice for victims. The UN’s member governments must immediately order all UN bureaucrats to step away and allow a bone fide criminal investigation to commence.”

The yearlong investigation found 83 aid workers had ties to abuse committed between 2018 and 2020, WHO officials said, including nine allegations of rape.

Some 21 of the accused perpetrators were confirmed to have been employed by the WHO, and included local and foreign staffers.

According to the report, 29 of the victims become pregnant as a result of the abuse, some of whom were forced to have an abortion.

The youngest alleged victim described in the report was a 14-year-old girl referred to as Jolianne, who says she was raped by a WHO driver who offered her a ride home and instead took her to a hotel where the assault took place.

WHO officials said all of the employees identified in the report who were currently employed by the organization were terminated and the others were barred from future employment.

WHO will refer the cases to the appropriate law enforcement agencies for criminal investigations if the alleged victims give their consent.

Apparently the WHO affiliates were unconcerned about the Ebola outbreak…

Hey Penny,

While the leaky vaccine is a thing. There is another thing I just learned about, which is that in order for the Mrna Vaccine to work it modifies the immune cell sentries/toll booth’s. Without a certain modification the Mrna gets cleaned up by the body. But with this modification it doesn’t perceive the mrna as hostile, but also modifies the sentries/toll booth which has a negative influence in perceiving threats.

There is suspicion that it might be linked to an increase of cancer, but its only correlation and anecdotal at this point.

Billions more in profits are at stake for some vaccine makers as the U.S. moves toward dispensing COVID-19 booster shots to shore up Americans’ protection against the virus.

How much the manufacturers stand to gain depends on how big the rollout proves to be.

Wall Street is taking notice. The average forecast among analysts for Moderna’s 2022 revenue has jumped 35% since President Joe Biden laid out his booster plan in mid-August.

No one knows yet how many people will get the extra shots. But Morningstar analyst Karen Andersen expects boosters alone to bring in about $26 billion in global sales next year for Pfizer and BioNTech and around $14 billion for Moderna if they are endorsed for nearly all Americans.

Those companies also may gain business from people who got other vaccines initially. In Britain, which plans to offer boosters to everyone over 50 and other vulnerable people, an expert panel has recommended that Pfizer’s shot be the primary choice, with Moderna as the alternative.

Andersen expects Moderna, which has no other products on the market, to generate a roughly $13 billion profit next year from all COVID-19 vaccine sales if boosters are broadly authorized.

Potential vaccine profits are harder to estimate for Pfizer, but company executives have said they expect their pre-tax adjusted profit margin from the vaccine to be in the “high 20s” as a percentage of revenue. That would translate to a profit of around $7 billion next year just from boosters, based on Andersen’s sales prediction.

Drugmakers aren’t the only businesses that could see a windfall from delivering boosters. Drugstore chains CVS Health and Walgreens could bring in more than $800 million each in revenue, according to Jeff Jonas, a portfolio manager with Gabelli Funds.

The COVID-19 vaccines have already done much better than their predecessors.

Pfizer said in July it expects revenue from its COVID-19 vaccine to reach $33.5 billion this year, an estimate that could change depending on the impact of boosters or the possible expansion of shots to elementary school children.

That would be more than five times the $5.8 billion racked up last year by the world’s most lucrative vaccine _ Pfizer’s Prevnar13, which protects against pneumococcal disease.

In the U.S., the PCR test is the gold standard for COVID testing. Common knowledge would have us believe that the (PCR) test is more accurate—and therefore more effective at containing the spread of the disease—than the rapid antigen test.

What if that isn’t quite true?

1: Today on the show, Mina argues that for less than a dollar, we could break the chain of transmission. So what’s stopping us? I’m Lizzie O’Leary and you’re listening to what next? TBD a show about technology, power and how the future will be determined. Stick with us. I want to start by kind of breaking down the universe of Covid testing that exists in the U.S. right now. You can get a PCR test, which is a molecular test or a rapid antigen test. And I think the common understanding is that a PCR is slower but more accurate. Is that the correct understanding?

S2: It’s not. And the reason is it’s because accuracy is entirely dependent on what your objective is. And the conversation has been 100 percent dominated by physicians and clinical laboratory directors who are completely focused on medical diagnostics and in the medical diagnostic. You’re not asking, how are we going to stop spread across the community? You’re asking, does my patient have any evidence that they currently have Covid or did in the recent past? Right. And so they want a test that’s going to be just like a forensics detective wants to get to detect even small molecules of of hair at a crime scene or blood at a crime scene, and they actually use PCR to do that. But if our goal is instead to identify people who currently are transmitting the virus to other people, then actually the rapid test is much more accurate

S2: It it can be, I mean, the US at this point. I think we have to be very honest with recognizing that the vaccine is not stopping transmission. Period. You know, it’s just not. And once we’re honest about that peace ( piece?), then we can start thinking critically about, okay, what are the right approaches to take? And we have to be really clear that these are two different things. One is to stop you from going to the hospital and one is to keep your workplace open so you don’t have outbreaks.

There have been a total of 15,298 reports (28.6 reports per 100,000 doses administered) up to and including September 10, 2021. Of the 15,298 reports, 4,172 were considered serious (7.8 reports per 100,000 doses administered).

Could 7.8 serious adverse reports per 100,00 doses administered really be “low” as is being claimed. Seems unlikely. Particularly when one considers the chance of serious effects was initially claimed to to be “ less then one in a million”

Like any medication, vaccines can cause side effects and reactions. After being vaccinated, it’s common to have mild and harmless side effects — this is the body’s natural response, as it’s working to build immunity against a disease. However, it is also possible for someone to have a serious adverse reaction to a vaccine. The chances of this are extremely rare — less than one in a million — and we have a duty to help if this occurs.

Less then one a million to approx 80 serious adverse effects in a million? So 80 times higher? Doesn’t seem low to me? How about you?

He and his wife, Jacqueline, were first hospitalized a month ago for COVID-19.

While Jesse Jackson was vaccinated, his wife was not. She required oxygen and was briefly in the intensive care unit before being released this month.

How long is briefly? She wasn’t intubated. She had some oxygen. And was released when? Clearly before her husband!

The 79-year-old disclosed a Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2017, which he has managed with physical therapy.

A third vaccine dose is intended for people at high risk and those prone to institutional or occupational exposure to the virus.

FDA approves Pfizer Covid vaccine booster shot for older population

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) to Pfizer and BioNTech’s Covid-19 vaccine booster dose for people aged 65 years and above.

The booster dose is also intended for people aged 18 to 64 years at increased risk of severe Covid-19, as well as for people whose regular institutional or occupational exposure to SARS-CoV-2 places them at an increased risk of serious complications of the infection, including severe disease.

Administered at a minimum of six months following inoculation with the two-dose regimen, the booster shot will have the same formulation and dosage strength as the initial series vaccines.

The latest authorisation is based on the totality of scientific data submitted by Pfizer and BioNTech, which was analysed by the Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee (VRBPAC) of the FDA.

The evidence included results from the Pfizer-BioNTech clinical programme assessing the safety, tolerability and immunogenicity of the booster shot.

According to the results, the booster shot induced substantially increased neutralising antibody titers against the wild type SARS-CoV-2 virus and the Beta and Delta variants when compared to the levels reported after the initial series.

Furthermore, a mild-to-moderate reactogenicity profile was observed within seven days after the booster while the incidence of reactions was in line with or lower than after the second vaccine dose.

The adverse event profile of the booster was similar to other clinical safety data for the shot.

The Kurdish media is spinning this cooperation as a negative between Damascus and HTS. And it is, of course, cooperation but is it negative?

The opening of a crossing between areas held by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) and those of Damascus government “negatively and morally affects the revolution and the revolutionary movement in the region,” official in the Green Idleb Council said on Monday.

On August 30th, three trucks carrying international relief aid from the World Food Programme from government-held areas entered opposition-controlled areas in Idleb through the Ma’aret al-Na’san-Miznaz crossing.

Opening the crossing “morally frustrates the revolutionary movement, especially after the government used all possible weapons and means to subdue the opposition to it and failed until early 2015,” according to Haytham al-Abdullah, co-chair of Green Idleb Council.

Morally frustrating the revolutionary movement? I’m okay with that!

““There is an agreement between Russia, the regime, and Turkey to eliminate the revolutionary factions,” Abdullah believes.

Yah, that’s been obvious for some time now. In fact it’s openly discussed. On repeated occasions. It was certainly discussed multiple times at my former residence.*see above

“Having the region run by Turkish-backed armed Syrian Islamic factions caused many liberated parts to fall under Damascus government control and they were content with running a small spot in the city of Idleb, which is one of the reasons for opening the crossing to complete the chain of complicity between the regime and those factions,” according to him.

Whaaat the Islamic factions were content to run small spots in the city of Idleb? Well that runs contrary to many presented narratives!

There is no dispute between HTS and Turkey because policies and actions conducted in the region are “with the knowledge and supervision of Turkey, militarily and intelligence and opening the crossing is part of a deal between Russia and Turkey rather than a settlement with Turkey,” Abdullah indicated.

This cooperative opening of the crossing is based on a deal between Turkey and Russia.?! Huh.

Natural SARS-CoV-2 infection induces more durable immunity than vaccination study suggests

In a report currently available on the bioRxiv* preprint server, scientists from the USA have demonstrated that immunity induced by mRNA-based coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines in previously severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)-infected people has the highest robustness and durability with cross-reactivity against different viral variants.

Pushing the vaxx and natural infection as superior without considering the jab risks.

The study findings reveal that natural infection induces moderate-intensity immunity against SARS-CoV-2 and its variants that remain stable for a long period. In contrast, mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccine-induced immunity gradually declines with time, despite an early robust magnitude

Infection-naïve vaccinee antibodies declined with time to post-infection-alone levels despite two doses, while those that recovered from early pandemic SARS-CoV-2 infection (i.e. before the emergence of Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta (Kupferschmidt, 2021; Summer E. Galloway, January 22, 2021)) elicited antibodies with greater breath across new viral variants than antibodies from infection-naïve vaccinees. Differential antibody durability trajectories favored COVID-19 convalescent subjects with dual memory B cell features of greater antibody somatic mutation and crosscoronavirus reactivity. Collectively, these studies identify an antibody breadth enhancing ability of early pandemic (i.e., pre-variant) SARS-CoV-2 infection, and a durability-enhancing function conferred by recalled immunity.

When comparing COVID-19 convalescents and naïve subjects after vaccination, we found unvaccinated COVID-19 convalescents had significantly greater breadth indexes to all tested variants of concern (VOC) than naïve vaccinees (Figure 2C-G). In addition, vaccination of COVID-19 convalescents did not provide further enhancement of the breadth index for any variant.

Of course, those with natural immunity who can share that benefit within the community will not qualify for a vaccine passport.
