**I’m having doubts this will take place and am suspecting Trump may cancel. Of course, I may be mistaken. That’s okay! This whole meeting feels like a grand standing and distraction. My suspicion is Trump will state that the EU is demanding cancellation.**

**What’s behind my thinking?**

**Nothing has changed that I’ve seen. Russia’s stance hasn’t changed. The US stance hasn’t changed? So, really, what’s the point?** **The EU/US relationship is strangely co-dependent, in my opinion. But, if Trump wanted an out- the EU will provide one for him. One in which he can present himself as acquiescing to EU demands.**

**`On the other hand Trump is desperate for a Nobel Peace Prize. Knowing perception so often has nothing to do with reality this meeting could be sold in just the right way...`**

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

> International media report that **European Union foreign ministers will hold an emergency meeting in Brussels on Monday, August 11, to discuss the upcoming meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.**
>
> According to Euronews, **EU ministers are gathering to address growing concerns over the planned Trump–Putin talks, scheduled for Friday, August 15, in Alaska.**
>
> The meeting, aimed at negotiating an end to the war in Ukraine, **has sparked alarm among European leaders following NATO officials’ warnings about the risk of sidelining Kyiv in any settlement.**
>
> **The European Union has stressed that no agreement will be acceptable without the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.** EU officials have criticized Washington’s unilateral approach and argued that Trump has so far failed to apply sufficient pressure on Moscow to end the war without altering Ukraine’s borders.
>
> **Europe and Ukraine have jointly proposed a counter–ceasefire plan** that includes security guarantees for Kyiv and a full halt to hostilities.
>
> Trump, who earlier voiced frustration in Scotland over the lack of progress in peace talks, recently shortened his own 50-day deadline for ending the war to just 10–12 days.
>
> He has also floated the idea of a land swap between Ukraine and Russia — a proposal that has met fierce resistance from both Kyiv and NATO.
>
> Analysts say the Alaska meeting could mark a pivotal moment in the Ukraine war **but carries the risk of deep divisions between the U.S. and its European allies.**
>
> **Diplomatic observers warn that any outcome excluding Ukraine from the negotiations could undermine Western unity,** embolden Russia, and jeopardize the security architecture established in post–Cold War Europe.

**Crazy times**
