**Mineral Deal- yesterday I mentioned the mineral deal would be the rationale for the US to continue it’s involvement in Ukraine including security agreements**.

> [Parliament speaker: Ukraine to start work on finalising US minerals deal on Monday](https://pennyforyourthoughts2.ca/2025/02/23/parliament-speaker-ukraine-to-start-work-on-finalising-us-minerals-deal-on-monday/)

##### [BBC](https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cj0qr168pdeo)

> Earlier, former Prime Minister Boris Johnson urged President Zelensky to secure Ukraine’s future by signing a minerals deal with the US.

> Johnson said he believed **Ukraine would sign a “promising” agreement to give the US access to valuable minerals, in return for security guarantees.**

> But Johnson said it was important to focus on a minerals deal, which he called “the great prize”.

> He rejected suggestions the deal was a “rip-off” and said **“what the Ukrainians get from this is a United States commitment under Donald Trump to a free, sovereign and secure Ukraine”.**

> “**I hope and believe that today, this week, that agreement is going to be signed,” J**ohnson said.

> It looks to be the case that some times this week Ukraine will have it’s US security commitment and the US will exploit/plunder Ukraine-

**As mentioned last week- Team Trump wants Zelensky out. The latest on this news featured just below my relink;**

##### [Who Could Replace Zelensky?](https://www.miamiherald.com/news/nation-world/world/article300874929.html)

**Miami Herald lists 2 of the 3 names** **in my picks**

1-**General Valery Zaluzhny**

The Economist reported on February 19 that it had obtained internal polling indicating he would beat Zelensky in a wartime election.

2-**Kyrylo Budanov**

An InfoSapiens poll conducted from November 15 to 27 ranked Budanov second after Zaluzhny, with a trust rating of 54.6 percent. In comparison, Zelensky held a 53 percent trust rating, while Zaluzhny led with 76.8 percent.

3-**Ruslan Stefanchuk**

**Right now I’m expecting the new leader to be General Valery Zaluzhny as Ukraine goes into full military dictatorship mode**

**The division of labour mentioned yesterday- With the EU out front and the US lead obfuscated**

##### [Billions in New Military Aid Pledged for Ukraine by European and NATO Partners](https://www.novinite.com/articles/231007/Billions+in+New+Military+Aid+Pledged+for+Ukraine+by+European+and+NATO+Partners)

> Previously, reports indicated that the European Union was preparing to announce a military **aid** package worth €20 billion, though negotiations between European diplomats suggested the figure could rise. Due to opposition from some member states, including Hungary, the **aid** is likely to be structured through individual state contributions rather than an official EU-wide package
>
> Spain has also pledged further military support to **Ukraine**
>
> Denmark also announced a new **aid** package for **Ukraine**, amounting to approximately €268 million (2 billion Danish kroner). The funds will be used for ammunition supplies and the development of a brigade-sized Ukrainian force in cooperation with Nordic and Baltic countries.

> Canada has committed additional military **aid** to **Ukraine**, including 25 LAV-3 infantry fighting vehicles and four F-16 fighter jet simulators. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that this **aid** would be supplemented with additional ammunition, equipment, and medical supplies. **Canada will also transfer the first installment of its US billion aid package, funded by proceeds from frozen Russian assets.**

**I’ve been around geopolitics too long to have had much faith in Trump as a harbinger of change. Change in rhetoric, but, not in substance. I covered his first presidency at my censored site, alongside many other political leaders** **and have watched for nearly two decades as leaders build upon the foundation of the former leaders. I’ve yet to see a foundation removed or taken down.**

**Sigh..**
