That could sow discord. This just gives the pro Syrian war faction more time to plan and set in motion resistance to stop it a second time. There are 70 days left before he takes power.
On the other hand I enjoyed seeing Trump terminate the political careers of Pompeo and Haley, like a public execution with a short tweet before a leisurely lunch. It’s a happy day when we see two neo-con warmongering tools get their just desserts. It cleans up the candidate pool.

I agree that the US should not be in Syria. It allows Syria’s oil to be stolen. The US supported the “Syrian rebels” to remove Assad. As I am sure you would know, Russian support for Assad ended that and helped Assad eliminate many of the “Syrian rebels” (largely ISIS). It’s nice to have Russia as a friend. Assad protects many different groups in Syria including Christians. I look forward to the day when Syrian again controls all of its territory.
