France & Britain Declare War on Russia, Russia Responds

There’s really little other in the way of credible alternatives to describe the actions taken by France and Britain, other than as declarations of war against Russia

France has sent its first troops officially to Ukraine. They have been deployed in support of the Ukrainian 54th Independent Mechanized Brigade in Slavyansk. The French soldiers are drawn from France’s 3rd Infantry Regiment, which is one of the main elements of France’s Foreign Legion (Légion étrangère).

The Legion today is run by French officers but the rank and file are all foreigners. Under the current anonymat (being anonymous) a volunteer who joins the Legion can decide whether to keep his given name or adopt a new one. Legionnaires serve for three year terms, after which they can ask for French citizenship. If a legionnaire is wounded, he is entitled to gain French citizenship without any waiting period. There are no women in the Foreign Legion.

As mentioned the other day

Ukraine can use British-supplied weapons to strike targets inside Russia, UK Foreign Secretary David Cameron stated during a May 2 visit to Kyiv.

Russia Summons Western Ambassadors

The UK and French ambassadors in Moscow were summoned by the Russian Foreign Ministry on Monday amid rising tensions over the Ukraine conflict.

The envoys were seen visiting the building housing the ministry in central Moscow separately, but neither the UK’s Nigel Casey nor France’s Pierre Levy offered any comments to the press outside. The Russian government did not immediately discuss the meetings either, only confirming that the ambassadors had been summoned.

Russian Ultimatum to UK

Ambassador Nigel Casey was summoned to the ministry following remarks by British Foreign Secretary David Cameron to Reuters that Ukraine has the right to use long-range missiles sent by the UK to strike deep inside Russia.

Russia understands Cameron’s comments as evidence of a serious escalation and confirmation of London’s increasing involvement in military operations on the side of Kiev,” the ministry added.

Casey was urged to “think about the inevitable catastrophic consequences of such hostile steps from London and to immediately refute in the most decisive and unequivocal manner the bellicose provocative statements of the head of the Foreign Office.

”Casey was warned that the response to Ukrainian strikes using British weapons on Russian territory could be any British military facilities and equipment on the territory of Ukraine and beyond,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement following the meeting.

Between Israel working to widen the war in the Middle East and the UK and France looking to expand the war in Europe- it is looking more and more like we are in an increasingly and extremely dangerous time and place

An update on Israel and the ceasefire talks

Israel approves Rafah military operation, hours after Hamas agrees to a cease-fire

Israeli leaders have approved a military operation into the Gaza Strip city of Rafah, and Israeli forces are now striking targets in the area, officials announced Monday.

The move came hours after Hamas announced it had accepted an Egyptian-Qatari cease-fire proposal, which could end seven months of war in Gaza

Netanyahu had made it quite clear there would be no ceasefire

Families of those held by hostage want an end to this and they want their loved ones home.

Netanyahu, in my opinion, cannot end this campaign of ethnic cleansing now- His government will fall and he’ll be arrested

Hi Penny,
Somehow I remain skeptical that France would have plans to try and establish 1500 Legionnaires as far east in the Ukraine as is Slavyansk. They would be far out of range for any logistic support or air cover and immediately vulnerable to Russian attack. There may be 100 French mercenaries somewhere, but not Legionnaires who despite their special status are regular troops of the French army. I will be proven wrong if Russia strikes Slavyansk heavily in the next few days.

Cameron, Macron and the US dual citizen leaders are like the schoolyard bully boys from primary school; full of bluster for the home audience, ready to sacrifice proxies, but devoid of any real substance when forced to act for themselves. Still the situation is critical and we’d better listen to what the Russians are saying because words mean something to them.

For Palestine/Israel it would seem that any hope for a two state solution died in the torrent of blood being spilled. The intransigence of Israeli public opinion and the hypocritical belligerence of the Zionist diaspora might become their ultimate undoing.

I understand your concerns wrt Legionnaires in that location. It could be speculation. We’ll find out at some point in time.
My impression of the Ambassadors being taken to task- is something very serious was discussed and Russia made clear they won’t be tolerating whatever France and UK, are up too.

Saw reports that it was Lavrov that spoke to them. If true they got the unvarnished opinion from a man who speaks well because he thinks well.
Of the many FM’s, over the many years of writing at my site- Lavrov is a diplomat par excellence-

Macron, on the other hand? He tries, but, he just doesn’t have it. I don’t even want to say he’s a wannabe Napolean, because Napolean was Italian, not French. And he was, from my understanding, likely a more strategic thinker (at a vastly younger age) then Macron could ever be.

Cameron? I’ve never gotten him.

Unfortunately barring something unanticipated, Israel with the help of the US will ethnically cleanse Palestine of the Palestinians in Gaza and the West bank- the visuals of horrifically harmed/ dead children are just too much.
I can’t bear to see them, I can’t imagine how the Palestinians can bear to live this- the death toll is going to be immense.

As for Israel and her inhabitants and adherents elsewhere they’ve shown a very ugly face to the world. The world will remember.
